In this world of cross culture hyphenated subgroups I am a member of the rarest of the rare. The conservative atheist.
This confuses me sometimes because the views that I see held by conservatives are so in line with my perceived atheist beliefs I wonder what other non-believers must be seeing to belong to the liberal-left political demographic.
The mere fact that somebody believes in god or not is no reason to over-bias or discount someone's political viewpoint. The belief in the power of the individual to shape his or her own life is the paramount concern of mine. This is a purely conservative viewpoint at this point in the political history of the United States. I detest the socialist, government regulation, bureaucratic solution oriented liberal political establishment.
